Earlier this week I got a note in the mail from Jim that said what I think are three unrelated items , “use olive oil and balsamic vinegar, watch ‘Pat and Mike’ and read ‘Saving Jesus from the Church’- Robin R. Meyers.

I use olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I’ve watched the movie ‘Pat and Mike.’ So I decided to research Saving Jesus from the Church: How to Stop Worshiping Christ and Start Following Jesus by Robin R. Meyers at Amazon.

The info from the publisher states: Countless thoughtful people are now so disgusted with the marriage of bad theology and hypocritical behavior by the church that a new Reformation is required in which the purpose of religion itself is reimagined. That is a fair description of me and my feelings, so I kept reading. They went on to talk about religion as relationship, not righteousness.  I liked working with that idea. I think this might be a good title for Jess, Alexis and me to study together.

The following is from a comment left at Amazon. If the book is as inspirational as this quote, I definitely need to explore this book.

“It means that every morning, we can wake up worthy and walk. This is the grace that brings radical freedom and the end of striving. Faith is something we do, against the odds, in loving defiance of a world gone mad. We do not become a good person by believing in God; we become a good person by loving God, especially the God we meet in every living thing.”
