Loopt, the mobile social network, available on Sprint

I heard Charlie Rose talk about this on his Thursday night show with the guy from Tech Crunch. It’ll be interesting to see where this one goes. The same questions will arise as with all new technology. Any technology has its pros and cons. Just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should.

From the article-   Loopt, a Silicon Valley company that lets people interact on their cell-phones as they move around on a map, will now be available on Sprint.

Loopt lets users chat with each other and inform them of their moves around town — while bar-hopping for example — without having to send messages each time they move. Loopt automatically updates your location every 15 minutes, using GPS technology. Friends also using Loopt can check your location when they want.

What’s Tech Crunch?

According to their website:“TechCrunch was founded on June 11, 2005, as a weblog dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing new Internet products and companies. In addition to covering new companies, we profile existing companies that are making an impact (commercial and/or cultural) on the new web space.

TechCrunch has now grown into a network of technology focused sites offering a wide range of content and new media.”
