Horowitz preferred performing on Sunday afternoons, as he felt the audience would be more well rested and attentive than during a weekday evening.

Vladimir Horowitz   (October 1, 1903 – November 5, 1989) was a Russian American classical pianist and minor composer. His technique and use of tone color and the excitement of his playing were and remain legendary. This recording was completed  four days before his death in 1989 at the age of 86. (Wiki)

I discovered Vladimir Horowitz after reading a favorable review of his album ‘The Last Recording.’  Isoldes Liebestod quickly became my favorite. I think it is sheer beauty.

I close my eyes and imagine Mr. Horowitz’ fingers flowing over the keys like water. The music takes me to a place beyond words or images.
